This transmission of the bacteria into a man’s urethra can result from unprotected anal sex. Bacteria can also be transmitted into a woman’s urethra from vaginal sex following anal sex (which is generally a bad idea without prior disinfection). This can occur while using a condom as well as when not using one, because the bacteria may be transmitted on the condom.
This info is not cause for alarm, but it should be kept in mind. I for one am sure that the UTIs I’ve experienced were unrelated to anal intercourse. Also my boyfriend never had any urinary tract infections as a result of anal sex. Actually he never had one at all, the lucky bastard.
